As part of Gentedimontagna's collaboration with Qantas, we wanted to show off a dozen of the many reasons Australia should be your next vacation destination. From underwater spectacles and mountain thrills to camel rides and cute koalas, it's a to-do list that's really easy on the eyes.
1. Sydney Opera House
Let's start with the symbol of Australia: The Sydney Opera House in Sydney Harbour, one of the world's most iconic buildings.
On to that other symbol of everything great Down Under, the koala. Get used to wanting to cuddle with the locals.
3. The Great Barrier Reef
In the Great Barrier Reef, it's just you, 132,973 square miles of marine park, a snorkel, and a pal.
4. Whitehaven Beach
The unspoilt Queensland beach is almost too good to be true.
Qantas Makes It Easy
Criss-cross Australia with Qantas' Walkabout Air Pass, which connects more than 60 destinations in the country. Kimberley to Sydney: so easy.
5. Yarra Valley
One of Australia's more fruitful and delicious wine regions.
6. Broome Beach
Ride a camel on Cable Beach in Broome, in Western Australia. Camels are great on sand, and who wouldn't rather be on a beach than in the Sahara Desert?
When you get off the sand and into the water, you can swim with whale sharks. (Australia is home to quite the menagerie.)
It's a huge country. The east gets so much attention, but don't miss Kimberley, the gorgeous wilderness in Western Australia.
9. Daintree Rainforest
Get in touch with nature — and get a shot of serious adrenaline — on a zipline through Daintree Rainforest in Queensland.
10. 12 Apostles
The stunning rock formation off the cliffs of Port Campbell National Park. The Great Ocean Road is the ride along the southern coast in Victoria. Melbourne is a few hours to the east.
11. Bondi Beach, Sydney
Even if you can't surf, you can't miss the surf culture of Bondi Beach in Sydney.
