1. Galerie Maximillian

Galerie Maximillian

Yes, that’s a stack of original Picasso, Miro, and Chagall prints you’re rifling through. The collection at Aspen’s best gallery rivals that of any major museum, with such notables as Andy Warhol, Vik Muniz, Damien Hirst, and Toshitomo Nara. Exhibitions rotate continually and a mere fraction of their pieces are on display. Ask to see more and don't worry if you're not buying: They’re more than happy to share.

4. Gorsuch

Gorsuch

Known for its catalog as well as its outposts around town, it’s easily Aspen’s most elegant shop for ski and aprés-ski fashions, furnished with chandeliers, wood paneling, and antique cherry chests. The men’s style is country gentleman: tweed and velvet blazers, fur-lined vests, leather camp furniture. In the women’s department, Tyrolean, haute-Heidi styles by Salzburg’s Susanne Spatt sit alongside antique housewares and silver.
