ArticBath, the latest project from the team behind Treehotel, will open later in 2018 in the middle of Lule River in northern Sweden. Like the name implies, the architecturally striking six-room hotel will feature saunas, a cold plunge pool, spa treatment rooms, a restaurant and bar, and a centerpiece open-air bath. Talk about a great escape. — Daniel, Gentedimontagna editor
Google Flights is adding two new features to help travelers find cheaper fares and predict potential delays. Flights labeled "Basic Economy" on American, Delta, and United will include overviews of what is included in the price (so you don't get stuck paying for overhead space again). For those who worry about the status of their flight changing while on the way to the airport or navigating security, will show confirmed delays, reasons for those delays, and even delay predictions (based off historic flight data). – Berit, senior editor
I love good radio programming and podcasts and get most of my music news/culture/comedy needs fulfilled via the airwaves. But there's a dearth of good travel shows out there. Roads & Kingdoms, the edgy, political, gonzo-leaning Anthony Bourdain-backed website, attempts to fill in the gap with The Trip, a podcast that sheds light on staff reporting trips all over the world. Episode one delves into a correspondent's hallucinatory voyage in the Amazon. It's a a bit self-indulgent but well produced and well played. Episode two is already in my queue. — Jeralyn, Gentedimontagna editorial director
Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel Hits the Road
, the show-stopper exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art that includes an impressive mini replica of the Sistine Chapel, closes next weekend. But it won't be the last eye-popping reproduction of the masterpiece outside the Vatican. This March, art will meet spectacle in , a live, immersive 270-degree show opening near the original, produced by a company called Artainment in collaboration with the Vatican Museum scientists with music by Sting. Watch the video above. Vegas meets the Vatican? It sure seems like it, and I will totally go see it. — Pavia, CEO
I’m planning a visit to SF for the Chinese New Year parade (February 24) and I’ve got my sights set on a stay at the new Proper Hotel. Designed by Kelly Wearstler, the rooms are decked in graphic patterns that might make for even more eye candy than the weekend’s fireworks and floats. The hotel has a restaurant, a rooftop bar, and a fleet of Shinola bikes guests can borrow. Plus, Proper is only a fifteen-minute walk from the start of the parade route. - Amelia,
Leave it to the Ukrainian capital to have a co-working space dedicated to moms who want to bring their kids to work. Zelenka Kiev is a redecorated Soviet-style apartment with different zones: a general area and kitchen, a quiet room for relaxing and putting kids down for naps, and a working area for moms. Bonus: The hourly rate includes unlimited tea and cookies for moms and kids. – Elena,
For the Moken people of Southeast Asia, the sea provides nearly everything a person might need. It offers food to eat, a comfortable place to live (assuming one owns the appropriate vessel), and, sometimes, love. Even if this seafaring ethnic group is being forced to give up its nomadic ways and live on land, it has managed to keep many of its marriage rituals intact. – Darrell,
